Marshall, Will and Holly...

Sad Max

Artful Dodger
So one of our leadmen is leaving today, to start on Land of the Lost.

Years ago, I made a side-excursion into art directing for an internet startup; one of their 'services' was streaming old sci-fi and fantasy content. And, since no one else was dealing with it, I wound up digitizing a big stack of 3/4" episodes of Land of the Lost, for streaming.

Marshall, Will and Holly
on a routine expedition
met the greaaaaatest earthquake
ever known.

High on the rapids
it rocked their tiny raft
(aaaaaaeeeeeeyyyy!)
carrying them one thousand feet below

To the Laaaaand of the Looooooost
To the Laaaaand of the Looooooooooooost

I've known that song by heart, ever since.

Oh, the pain.

isn't Will Ferrell in this movie? if so, that's hilarious cause he played Marshall Willenholly in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

It's "it struck their tiny raft, and plunged them down a thousand feet below."

This is from the sponge-like memory of a seven year-old who couldn't wait to watch it every Saturday morning, along with Dr. Shrinker, Wonderbug, and Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.

Anyway, be thankful you don't have the lyrics to the NEW Land of the Lost running through your head. They're far more stupid (as was the show).

I watched some of an episode of the new LOTL.

Didn't have any of the charm, of the original.

Yeah, I still remember Dr. Shrinker, H.R. Pufnstuf, The Bugaloos, Sigmund and the Sea Monster, The Lost Saucer and The Way-Out Space Nuts.

I live in fear of big-budget feature adaptations (sorry, re-imaginings) of those, too...

I blame Sid and Marty Krofft for my warped psyche. The first show I ever saw on cable was "Far Out Space Nuts." Land of the Lost will always be the Krofft's crowning achievement, I've got all the dvd box sets. Does Nickelodeon still do PuffaPalooza marathons anymore?

Saw an interview with Sid and Marty wherein they swore, swore, swore that no one involved in the making of Pufnstuf, had been doing any drugs, at all.

Uh...

...yeah.

Not until after the show came out anyways. I remember watching all those, except Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. I remember Green Hornet, Batman, Shazam and Isis, but not that show.

The entire Sid and Marty Croft series was epic; a true happy memory of my childhood

Cept Chaka was kind annoying.

Dr Shrinker ! Dr Shrinker !

Being kids of the 70s, my wife and I decided to Netflix the Sid and Marty Krofft collection for our kids to watch. I never missed an episode of LOTL growing up, so I got through that one okay and the kids seemed to enjoy it.

After watching the rest, the missus and I exchanged a WTFWTA? look and promptly sent the discs back. Sigmund hasn't aged well. At all.

Yeah, I don't buy for a moment that those guys that brought us The Banana Splits and the rest of the Krofft stuff weren't all completely stoned at all times.

Trivia footnote: Richard Donner directed season one of The Banana Splits.

When you consider that Land of the Lost was a Saturday morning kid's show--the special effects were way beyond anything else of the same era and timeslot. I have good memories of that show and HR PuffnStuff was pretty funny and campy humor.

To the Land of the Lost. LOST LOST LOST...

When I watched it recently though on a DVD collection, I couldn't believe how much different the production values were from what I remembered. A bit disappointing now.

Good God David, we had the exact same Saturday morning lineup...

Funny story you might appreciate...I was 5 when Electra Woman and Dyna girl hit the airwaves for that one brief Saturday morning season. Deidra Hall was my absolute first crush. I had no idea why she made me giddy. Fast Forward to years later...I befriend a girl who just happens to be Deidra Hall's live in nanny. I tell her about my first crush and how it was on her boss.

A few months later, she produced a black and white signed autographed promotional Electra Woman picture....To Rick......Diedra Hall. Its one of my most prized possessions...

On Halloween of this year she turns 60. But to me, she is still hot...
