Marshall Video Assist Monitor

Jay Nemeth has one, and speaks quite highly of it; I think Rush at EVS also endorses them but I should let those guys speak for themselves...

Ok...Great.
I hope more people can share their experiences with using the marshall. I am still considering the cost factor and trying to determine if it is worth the price.

You are fully authorized to speak for me Barry

True, those are the best portable monitors I have seen. Also the most convenient (considering they come with V-mount adapter on-board) and super-sharp/accurate for focusing and framing. I have been using one for a few shoots and I am very impressed. True the Panny 17" with the built in scope is fantastic, but nothing beats this for portability.

My question is: Can the camera hold this monitor WITH battery included?

It looks quite heavy to me.
And what is the best way to deliver video signal from the camera? It does not have S-video output.

The sony comes with a USB-looking cable that breaks out into YRB component output. Those adapt with RCA-female to BNC-male connectors, into that monitor. However, it is heavy with a 70WH V-mount battery, and I would not recommend mounting it as that pic shows onto the shoe mount of a Z1U (which hangs off the camera body). It is a fantastic monitor, the best I've seen for that size, but it has to be mounted on a tripod with a magic arm, http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=2930
or on a 1/4-20 tap on the camera handle, using a mini Israeli arm, like the Nnoga Holdit arm.

The component and S-video output are just above the XLR inputs.
I also use a S-video to composite adaptor if I need a BNC composite output.
The S-video cable out to a monitor creates a very nice picture.
