Marshall R70 owners - read this

I stumbled upon a cool thing yesterday and want to share it with fellow Marshall owners. If you look on page 111 of the HVX owner's manual, you will see that the factory setting for resolution over component is 720P.

Switch this from 720p to 1080i and watch the marshall screen increase its display resolution dramatically!

(preferably while looking at some detailed subjects like powerlines)

The difference is amazing and too bad I have not found this earlier! Its great when you "find" cool features randomly!

Oh yeah, to do this. Go into P2 clip playback mode, play a clip and pause it. Then press the MENU button and go into AV IN/OUT SETUP >>>CMPNT OUT SEL >>>720P/1080I/480I

I didn't notice much of a change.

But I have noticed a difference in the image display from HVX LCD and Marshall.
I have the HVX LCD settings for Color/Brightness/Contrast all at factory- centered.
I also have my marshall settings set to center.

In low light-
I can see objects in the HVX LCD that are in total black on the marshall.

How do you go about calibrating the HVX LCD?

Thanks

I noticed this too when I first got the marshall and played around with it. even when shooting 720p, 1080i out the component gives the sharpest image to the marshall.

There were several articles when DV first hit about how to callibrate your camera's LCD. Basically, you use color bars and proceed similar to calibrating a monitor. It's not a big deal to do with color bars displayed, but it is much more limited than a real monitor.
