marker and tc in 24p

i have attempted to set the tc to ndf option in the 24p but it doesnt show me an option... only shows df. ? does it automatically default to ndf in the 24p mode?

also, the marker will not appear when i set it while in 24p. ?

i appreciate your response.

Re: marker and tc in 24p

24p modes only record in non drop frame so their is no option to change it in the settings. The market only appears when toggling through the zebra button on the side of the camea body under the LCD. You will toggle through Zebra 1, Zebra 2, Marker, etc...

Re: marker and tc in 24p

thank you very much.

the other question i have is with the scene frame settings. if i update some info in a scene frame it wipes to default on previous settings if i dont change all the settings at once. it doesnt just allow me to upgrade the changes. is this true? i am told that i should save the settings in two places: both the scene files and in the other functions menu. is this true?

about the tc. I am also told that if i am not going to film out then i should shoot in df not ndf. is there a place that explains this in more detail?

one more thing..my project will be edited on an avid. but not to film out- should i only shoot then in 24p or 24padv? i'm sure all of this has been addressed before and so if there is a log of these questions please let me know.

your time and responses are so appreciated. ++

Re: marker and tc in 24p

you can make one little change to a scene file , and  only have to select to save it in that same scene file menu if you keep going down through the menu til you get the save  option.

personally i dont think what you shoot your time code in makes any difference whatsoever, as long as you can get it into your nle, cuase your finished file is going to have an entirely ne timecode anyway, but obviosly there are some reasons that they give you the options, i just cant think of why you would want to change it myself. and anyway, corrrect me if im wrong, but i think the 24p modes only allow for non drop frame recording , so you cant change it in 24p anyway.

assuming you want to edit in 24p, and have a 24p output, if your avid has the ability to work uncompressed, and can do the 2:3 pulldown, then you can use the 24pn without any rerendering.  otherwise its reccommended to shoot in the 24pa as long as  the avid can do the 2:3:3:2 pulldown.  and your sure to have no rerendering if your staying in the native dv format. if your avid can do either, than its up to you. and it doesnt really matter.
