Mark and Ted's Excellent Adventure in Drama

Hey guys, glad to see you made it back. I'll bring the BTS photos by and pick up David's jacket. What kind of beer do you want me to bring?

Perhaps a light lager or even a domestic pilsner. Something with a little amusement in its heart while carrying a dark note of hops to appeal to Ted's neurotic side. Hell, any of Mr. Weiser's fine cereral malt beverages will be fine.

Here's the HVX frame. I've keyed and matted out the hardware on the left side so you can see the work that we'll need to do on these frames. We'll be adding the background (cloudscape/horizon with canopy reflections. ... The HVX color space makes keying so much easier for us.

Very nice looking shot! With some clouds behind him, he'll be flying HIGH!
No, he's not actually going to fly in that shot. That's what we have the bluescreen for. It would be quite dangerous to start the airplane with people in front of it.

HAHA! What a smartass! Very funny, man.

Tim, I had such a great time working with you last night!

Can't wait for more January!

Mark... um how many fx shots are there?

um, still trying to make some final decisions! We've got great footage to intercut with and I don't want to overload the VFX team. Sorry to be late in getting this all together BUT I should be able to get the VFX team the reference photos FINALLY and a list of the shots.

We've got some serious wire removal in this canopy shot but I THINK it is going to be pretty ok cause its basically a lockdown. The other keying shots are piece of cake and I've already tested a little so I know we're golden there.

As you know, we've got guys working on the smoke and I'm doing a test with an obscure plug that I should be able to share with the team by next week.

Thanks for hanging in here with us. Kyle will be here late tomorrow so I'm thinking we'll probably holler at you Friday and give you some sh*t and also give me a chance to discuss some FX biz with ya.

To the other VFX team members reading this, give me til this weekend to get this outlined and we'll have a web meeting. (notifications by e-mail).

Okay folks...

We have some BTS of our second set-up last night. Not so much of the action but a "Who's Who!" (except for Mark who was busy running around during this photo session and Blaine who was taking the photos! Also missing is Kelly Sneed, make-up)

Tim Hyten, Gaffer/Key Grip

David Concannon, FAA REGIONAL CHEIF

Tom Marshall, FAA REGIONAL OFFICER

And me in the holiday spirit!

This set-up was in an office of Marks that we turned into the FAA Regional Office. You will see a grab soon of the "set."

Thanks Brandon!

Here are some more shots.

These were from the first set-up but I really wanted to share a bit more on that "challenging" front surface mirror shot.

Not only was the set-up a bit challenging but....

(Notice the camera in the mirror!)

But checking the framing was a... pain in the a$$!!! (not literally, though I am sure that there will be plenty of jokes built from this shot. But I wanted to share what we sometimes have to do to get the shot!)

What was cropped out of this photo? A burger perhaps?

Man, I could go for one of those burgers!

Brandon... I finally got to try an In-N-Out burger!!!

Okay.... A GRAB from the FAA REGIONAL OFFICE SET!!!

This is a raw grab that has not been CC or had VFX completed. (You may have to wait until Jan. 31st for that!)

More to come....

After looking at the image... it gives me this 16mm Early 90's film feel... which is something I think this project should go for, in terms of styling. I am digging it.

Thanks. I was very happy with this set and shoot. Looking forward to it even more when we do the little extras to it.

Thanks Brandon! Sorry about our plans falling through tonight.

What a long week.
