Mark 2 on BIG screen

Was wondering if anyone here has seen Mark 2 footage on a big screen and if so, how it held up. I'm going to be doing a fine art Documentary and hope to show big screen copies of it.. Thanks!

We did a test screening of our film on Friday on a 35 foot screen and it held up beautifully. Projected using a Blu Ray. Entire film was shot on Canon 7D (I know not the same, but I imagine it'll hold up better, if not the exact same).

Best of luck,

Kegan

Have you watched DRIVE with Ryan Gosling? Some of the night scenes were shot using a 5DMKII. Interesting to see that in a Hollywood production.

There's also the Hawaii 5-0 reboot that's been shot using that camera, according to this, even if not listed on imdb. The finale episode of House Season 6 has been shot entirely using one.

My film was blowed up on the big screen using the 5d and people said it didn't look any different to them from watching a hollywood film. Lights, lights and more light is the key to getting these cams to blow up nice on the big screen.

On Feb 17th, Act of Valor hits more than 3000 big screens and 75% of it was shot with a 5D.

I've heard a lot of different things regarding that...where did you get that percentage? I'm not doubting you, but I mean - they also shot 35mm...makes me question how much of the 5D they used and why.

According to Shane Hurlbut, it was 75% 5D, 20% Film and 5% Sony (F350?). He's tweeted about it a lot. Just check his tweets since around November.

So is Blu-Ray playback for a theater setting the best route ? I'm about to start a project with a friend and He's renting out a theater to display his doc.
It will be shot on 5D and T3i. THX

...and they also used the Sony F950. The film cam is the ARRI 235. I have been following Shane on his blog for a while now since they did this "untitled navy seal" project couple of years back and yeah, almost all of it is on the 5D mkII.
He even had a contest by posting an assault on a yacht clip on his blog and they had readers post their guess which were taken with the diff cameras. Almost all were 5D, a few on the sony and just 1 on the ARRI.

For what it's worth, imho things usually look better on the big screen than two feet in front of you on a 1080 monitor.

Amen!!! Thank you for that slap of reality. All this pixel peeping crap I've witnessed in the last few years don't mean Bo!! Diddly that is. :)

Most theaters now download their movies to the theater server, and played out from the hard drives. You can bring in your own hard drive with the correct codec for their projectors. I'm talking about the major theaters. For college, etc., smaller theaters, it would depend on the projector, but most can run from a harddrive.
