March For Science: Space Coast (a6300/Zhiyun Crane)

The data you provided would lead one to assume climate change is a natural occurring event that takes place every few thousand years. One thing it doesn't address is what the catalyst is for today's climate change. For example the ice age was caused by a tilt in the earth's axis. The Medieval warming period was caused by an increase in solar radiation and a decrease in volcanic activity. A majority of scientists attribute today's warming to an increase in carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere. Even if that isn't the case, a transition away from fossil fuels to renewable energy would only benefit society.

I think you're missing the point of the video and the march in general. The point of this march was to convince politicians to look at scientific data and talk to experts when making policy decisions. Cutting the budget to the EPA, the NOAA, NASA's Earth Sciences division, the NIH, and the department of education is a clear sign of the direction this country's going and the reason why people wanted to march.

I understand you probably have a response but can we please try and keep the subject on cameras and filming techniques? Believe me, I have enough political arguments on Facebook, I don't want to drag those onto these forums.

I have no desire to have that discussion here. That is why I merely posted the link, and let you decide for yourself. No worries. It's just science.

I watched the video with the audio off so that I could evaluate the video objectively. I have some interest in the a6300 and a6500 myself as I will be getting a new camera in a year or two.

The exposure looks great. The slo-mo looks great. Was the camera on auto-focus? What focal length lens were you using, and with or without a speedbooster?

Steve

Thanks Steve! Sounds good, no worries here either. :)

I'm loving my a6300 but am kinda bummed I got it before the a6500 came out. I surprisingly didn't have any overheating with this video but I've had it before, especially when doing interviews. Aside from that though it's a great camera.

Thanks! Yeah it's all auto focus with a Zeiss 24mm f1.8. Pricey lens but it's sharp, nice depth of field, and a good focal length for gimbals.

I've watched a number of review videos about the camera and it seems to be known for its quick and accurate auto focus. That would be great for documentaries. I've also heard the a6500 has remedied the over heating issue.

The slo-mo looks really good too. Was that 60fps slowed to 30?

Was this shot with in-camera stabilization or did you have it on some kind of stabilizer?

Steve

That's one of the main reasons I got it was for the autofocus. It's actually 120fps in a 24p timeline. And the one I have doesn't have the in-camera stabilization (a6500 does). Handheld is terrible because of the rolling shutter, but I was using a zhiyun crane 3-axis gimbal (love this thing!). Easy to use and super smooth shots.

By all means, please look at the NOAA and NASA data. I was looking for that (have seen it a number of times) but could not find it at that time. I have some NOAA and NASA charts saved on another computer which shows the pattern of warming and cooling at a pretty regular interval as well as the increase of CO2 but not temperature over an 11 year period (2000's), which is in opposition to the proposal that CO2 emissions are in direct correlation with temperature increase.

There is also the vast greening of the Earth as a result of the current CO2 levels. The plants are loving it (absorbing CO2 for photosynthesis, and releasing more oxygen). Farm crops are thriving and produce is increased. I believe it is NASA that has a colored chart of the Earth showing before (old data) and after (today) with the increased greenery from trees and other plant life. I'll see if I can get that information.

I am not wanting to have a debate nor do I want to convince you of anything. I merely want to be able to say what has given me my views.

Steve

120 fps gives such nice slo-mo.

I believe as time goes on rolling shutter will become less of an issue. Some NLE's have programing to counter it. Also, manufacturers are working on remedying it. The Nikon D500 does a good job of really knocking it down.

I recommend you remove your controversial and off topic posts as this is clearly not the place for them.
