Manual note about charging battery

I just randomly noticed in the manual it says:

"After charging the battery:"

"The charge lamp turns off (normal charge). If you continue charging more 1 hour after the charge lamp turns off, you can use the battery a little longer (full charge)."

So you charge it 1 extra hour after the lamp turns off, you get a full charge? Kind of silly...why wouldn't the lamp just turn off after a full charge?

Am I understanding that correctly?

This is a sore point with me. Every cheap device I own has a pattern to reflect charge status - but not the FS100
charger. yellow, no blink pattern then nothing. Is it still plugged in? You have to mount the battery to get any info!

Hey Sony, we noticed.

The battery behaviour is nothing new, just the way the charger displays charge level.

I wished I kept the old double slot chargers that came with my Z7U and Z5U as although they could only charge one battery at a time, once one battery was charged the second would start, which means I don't have to wake up in the middle of the night to switch batteries if I'm shooting late night and then then next morning. My little work-around was to buy two more single chargers.

The old chargers also had read-outs that showed the remaining time to full charge, including the extra hour for the extra top-off amount.

The good news is that you can buy the double charger for under $100 in the US.

Up in Canada the same charger costs a lot more. $220 to be exact.

But that shouldn't surprise me as Sony L series batteries cost twice as much here as well.
