Manual focussing on the GH4

I'm sure I've been able to focus this camera just using peaking and being able to do that on the full screen. Now when I try, as soon as I start to focus that small magnified mini-screen with four yellow arrows around it appears in the middle of my frame. Is there any way to disable this small focussing screen such that I only see the whole frame with the full composition of my shot? I've been going through the manual for the last hour but no luck.

Look for MF + ASSIST in the menus and set to OFF. That should disable the magnified "assist".

However, even when enabled I believe that "assist" will not kick in once you've started recording.
