Manual Focusing while Panning

I was wondering how people do manual focusing with 24PA while panning the camera, and crossing various objects that are different distances from one another. Is there a special technique to doing this, or just practicing beforehand??

practicing before hand is a must.

there are positions you can use to ease the focus pulling, as in make a C with your left hand, or right hand, whichever one you use. and have your hand start out in its final position and reverse the movement so that,,, man this is starting to soudn confusing even to me..

crap dont know how to explain it....

put your hand on the focus ring. Have your primary focus F whatever, and your final focus F whatever. Try having your hand in its final position ( should feel slightly pulled and uncomfortable, relative to the starting position ) and now when you do your focus pull, your hand should finish in a standard position.

hope that makes some sort of sense. but im thinking no.

That's exactly what I do. But as mentioned by PaPa, practise the move a few times before recording. You want to get the best, not the worst.

Good Luck

Alright, that makes sense. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some default technique in doing this that I didn't know about.
