Manual exposure thwarted

I'm setting up my FS700 to shoot a feature and am using mainly Nikkors with an adaptor that has a manual aperture ring. Looks like some setting is engaged that does not allow complete manual exposure - turning the ring to change the exposure is working, but not completely in my hands - the camera is modifying exposure in an "I know better than you" way. Can't be the lens as it has no electronic connection to the camera. Turning knee from auto to manual does not help.

I noticed a small "A" next to the shutter speed. Any relation to this problem?

yes the "a" stands for "auto". i had the same problem. you have to depress the wheel like a button, once you reach your desired shutter speed. do not press the shutter speed button once you reach your desired shutter speed or the camera will go to auto.

Thanks! Strange that Sony would make it that easy to get into auto mode without touching any of the typical "auto" buttons- but one look at the manual tells you, they intended this camera for prosumers.
