Manual control for D90?

Will there ever likely be manual control for the D90? And if you think not, why not? I'm considering this camera very seriously as I expand from pro stills into film work. I'm aware of the limitations but cannot afford D300s or D7 as need cash for audio gear and additional software.

Besides, I've seen some incredible work from the D90.

Also, if a camera shoots progressive, should one deinterlace when uploading to the likes of vimeo?

who knows about manual control, but there are ways to trick the camera into giving you control over aperature during shooting, its a bit messy, but at least you can change it and it works great.

(as long as you have a lens with a manual aperature ring)

Ive been using the 50mm 1.8, 50mm 1.4, 28mm 2.8, tamron 17-50 2.8 and some others with pretty good success.

you can check out some of my videos, the latest one posted with some work from class was done with only practical light (ie: no lighting setup at all), but by adjusting the aperature manually via the tips included in the d90 faq i was able to get some really nice shots still.

If i had to start over, id go with a 7D, but then again i only paid $650 for my D90, and the 7D is prolly gonna be like $1700 so im happy with my setup for now.

THe only other thing to consider about filming with d90 is that hte sound recoridng isnt great. Im currently trying to find a used zoom H2 to record sound with.

Thanks Jon. I'm aware of the ways to trick the camera. I do have several legacy lenses, 24 through 135 primes.

I'm also planning on getting some decent audio capture gear to go alongside.

I continue to hope, perhaps in vain, that Nikon will issue a firmware update that will allow for manual shutter and iso control. That, along with the legacy lenses, would make life with a D90 rather sweet indeed.

I gather there are some methods that can be applied to the raw footage to lessen the rolling shutter issue.

Mind you, I do not yet have a D90 but hope to have one before Christmas to really get going on my filmic endeavours. Up 'till now I've been harnessing the power of an SD Flip Mino and having a ball. Using it has allowed me to make This G20 Demo movie and several more besides and to learn how to edit clips together along with some stills. It enhances my storytelling. But it's time for a more capable camera and HD.

Please post a link to the films you mentioned above.

Cheers,
