Manfrotto Fig Rig - Any comments?

I am looking for a low-price camera stabilization system. Nothing fancy. I have been reading about the Fig Rig and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I know that it will not be anywhere near the quality of other products (Steadycam Merlin, etc.) but since I won't use it alot, I don't want to spend tons of money.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hmm, what's your budget? What's your camera and other gear you'd like to use? And what type of shots/shooting do you want to do?

I am using a DVX100 and it's mostly weddings and other small-time projects. Nothing too big.

My budget...right now I don't want to exceed $400 CAD...but I am hoping that projects shot with this rig will open the door (budgetwise) to a nicer rig, something along the lines of the Merlin or another more professional unit.

Not a fan of the fig rig. Maybe consider using a sticky pod with a small weight at the bottom. In film school I attached a small weight to the bottom of my unextended tripod to use for steadier shots.

I have read that the figrig is more stable than handheld, plus you can attach other things to it, as well as be able to hold it for a reasonble amount of time.
