Making Tungsten look like daylight?

Hey guys,

I have a ton of home depot worklights that I currently use for production. I was wondering if there is anyway I can make them look like daylight in order to place them outside a window so they can act like the sun. I was thinking gels but will they melt? Those tungsten worklights get rediculously hot.

Any cheap alternatives?

For my feature in September I plan on picking up a nice solid lighting kit so I can look semi professional and not have to show up sporting the hardware lamps. I was thinking about Lowel or cool lights.

what do you guys think?

depending on the size of your window and number of them ... gel the window(s)

also, you just need to get the gel about 10" away from a 500w tungsten.

So you could use a coathanger and clothespins or something. Or make a snoot with black wrap or aluminum foil and place the gel on the end of that.

I used to by the work lights that had a little catcher's mask type grill on it and I clothespinned gel to that.
