Making the HPX300 plunge... HELP!

Hey all,
I own a small video production business in northern California, and for years I've been getting buy on my DVX100Bs. I'm making the plunge into HD with the HPX300.
I have a few questions for those with more expertise than I can muster. For while on projects I've been using a HVX200 with a lens adapter and Nikon lenses. I'm happy with the images, but the light loss is significant.
I've heard buzz of people buying the HPX300, removing the stock lens and using a $75 lens mount to put on Nikons. The drawback is no zoom. The advantage is not the loss of light. The savings is $2000 or so in a lens adapter and all that comes with that, which also sounds good to me.
My question is... does this sound right? Do I have my facts in order? Does this sound like a workable solution to get a good depth of field at a reasonable price on this camera (with the understanding I'll need to move the camera via dolly whenever I want to 'zoom' in).
As some context, I'll be buying a Chrosziel R20-HPX300K2 Panasonic HPX-300 with Kit 2 (AC-CMB-R20-HPXK2) for use when the Nikon lenses are affixed.
Finally, can anyone recommend a good lens mount for the HPX300 to affix the Nikon lenses?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

"I've heard buzz of people buying the HPX300, removing the stock lens and using a $75 lens mount to put on Nikons. "

First I've heard of it... although you've got me excited if there is an inexpensive way to get nikon prime lenses on...

Cheers

The quote on The Abel site about that adapter:

Using this adapter will introduce a magnification factor of 7X.

That would make a 50mm lenses a 350mm. Might have to shoot from the next town over with lenses above 50mm.

Look no further! Nice option...

The Adaptimax Nikon to 1/3" Bayonet

http://www.adaptimax.com/nikon_to_third.html

"Extremely high in quality. The Adaptimax Nikon to 1/3" Bayonet is CNC milled from high grade aluminium, before being anodised. It is then fitted out with an extremely hard wearing brass Nikon mount which is then chrome plated for even longer durability. Unlike our rivals who use an aluminium mount which quickly shows signs of wear, our brass bayonet is built to last. The bayonet is secured with four 2mm high tensile screws and we believe our adaptors are so well made we guarentee them for 12 months with no quibble.

The Adaptimax Nikon to 1/3" Bayonet is designed for all Nikon lenses which have an external aperture ring.

The Adaptimax Nikon to 1/3" Bayonet gives a magnification factor of X7, which makes these adaptors perfect for shooting wildlife or macro. You can now get the shots that are impossible with the stock lens. Fit on a 80-200 2.8, or 300mm F4 Nikon on the camera and the results will astound you."

So, with a Nikon 80-200/f2.8 you might have
@80mm: 560mm telephoto
@200mm: 1400mm telephoto

There are some video samples shot with 1/2" CMOS Sony EX3's

Cheers.

LOL. Ok thanks

LOL. Ok thanks

Like I said, I don't if it works but at least the proper connections exist. I see a post further down that seems to be exactly what you described and are looking for. I'm glad I was sort of able to help,lol. At least someone else responded with what you were actually looking for. Sometimes it just takes someone responding to a post and keeping a thread alive to get the right person to give you the info you need, thank CinemaElectronika for posting the link.

Now I need to find one for my Canon L series lenses, lol. Doh!!

GL to ya man, hope it works, post some clips if you get it, love to see what the images would look like.:D
