Ok - Dumb question I know. How can I make some money on the side. LEGALLY.

I am a student but I have a very expensive future and hobby - video production :).

I have about exhausted my options as I can't offer full time services and go to school. Thoughts?
 
Ture, weddings are a good idea - I always worry about what may happen if something goes wrong though. Thats a lot of risk.
 
Well, Video production is always a risk. Everything is always a risk! You could go out on the street and get hit by a car, ever thought of that? :D
 
plus Tom could help teach the method of acting to help the Judge believe your side..

But yes like others have mentioned, wedding business is pretty solid...
 
If you're talking about making money video wise, seek out some local bands and ask them if they are thinking of making a video (80%?) and if so, how much are they willing to pay.

Preferably, seek out bands that are working, like in bars. At least they have a little cash and are probably more serious about getting it done in a decent timeframe.

Most of all, put the bug in everyones ear that your looking for video work, price negotiable. Offer some bonuses to guys that line you up with others, ect.

Okay... but for real. Like others have said, weddings are a good way in. Beyond that, go door to door to small businesses and see if they need any commercials/informercials made up, if not, leave a card. Sell yourself. Your pitch will gradually improve over time and hopefully you'll get some people who could use your services.
 
Please allow me to get all "philosophical" for a moment,

some people will spend their entire lifetime "chasing" money, only to end up never getting it, OR

they will work so hard, with so much effort to get the money, that when they do get it, all the joy is sucked out of their lives.

I feel, everyone has a talent/gift / passion/dream, you should follow that and do what you love, because what you love becomes easy and makes you happy, Money automatically follows it, and even if it doesn't at least your happy (which is why most people chase it in the first place; because they feel thats what will bring them happyness)

Funny, its happyness that brings money, now thats a twist for you! :D

Gun runner? Running drugs into the US. Either of those are very lucrative. :)

But really, try to learn about editing, color correction, anything you can do off-site. Work from home deal. Try to get a temp PA position somewhere if a production comes near you.
 
I am starting to get a good grasp on the things I can do off site, I guess I am not sure where to find people who need that service.
