i dunno if any of you have some good money making tips/strategies please enlighten me

get a job

and yes, I read your " i am a junior in highschool so a part time job isnt cutting it... " comment but still, get a job

Or set a more realistic time frame for getting your camera based on your earning power. :(

I still want my mattebox and filters and light kit and c-stands and......

i dunno about Japan, but a junior in HS isn't too young to start building credit in America...good ol consumerism and all....go to your bank and apply for a student credit card - should cover 500-700 of it...not too much dough, but enough to speed up your purchase - and not too much that it will be trouble paying it back...

either that or sell crack in the ghettos of okinawa

Just lower your standards a little. You don't need a $2800 camera right now. Some people make amazing videos with a little Canon ZR70. Keep using the equipment you have and practice, practice, practice. Be patient and you'll get what you want.

I had a part-time job working on a golf course when I was 16. Maybe you can get a job at a tv station.

Go work at Famous Players, that's what I did, YOU GET FREE MOVIES, and you make money, (not much, BUT you make money) . Plus Famous Players likes to hire the young ones, I dont wanna know why, I just know they do.

rather than focus on that "something else" that is over the horizon, exploit what you got. sounds like you've already a tremendous amount of resources at your disposal.

wish i was that focused at your age. sounds like you've got a great headstart.

thats' funny Clumsy cool, Famous players was owned by paramount but there now cineplex odeon.... for the Americans it would be identical to the big Edwards cinemas or AMC.... and yeah when I was in film school at 20 I either used there equip.. or my 1chip consumer cam that I was able to afford. I'd like a new HVX but I can't imagine coming up with the cash this year.... try aiming for a used model if it has to be sooner, you'll save a ton on taxes and most people rarely even break in there cam's before trying to sell them, just look at the posting on this board! every other day there's a camera going with only 200hrs on the heads..... remember thats only like 15% of there suposed user tape head life....

I'm a Junior in High School, and I worked my ass off for 3 summers to make the $4k that I needed for a DVX + Accesories. And it was the worst job ever, but you can't ***** when you need money.

Dude. Bro. Life is hard. Things don't get handed to you. Get used to it.

Apply for those awsome summer jobs who pay alot, and require minimum work. :P That's what I did, summer technology camps, taught how to do lightsabres all day :P. And got 7000$ for the summer. Look arround , camps pay ALOT.

summer jobs that you can do at age 17 and make 8-10k in one summer:

1. commercial fisherman (Alaska-style, i imagine even more opportunities in Japan)

2. wildland fire-fighter

anyone else think of some?
