Making Letterboxed 16:9 into real 16:9?

I want to know how to successfully take a 4by3 picture and transform it into a widescreen 16:9 picture.

From reading a post from Jarred regarding the horror flick Sleepover or whatever the name was, I got the impression they were able to achieve this... how is it done?

I've tried by putting my letterboxed 4by3 image into an anamorphic timeline then changing the scale of the footage to fit the entire canvas. It works, but the image suffers, becomes noticeably softer, almost out of focus.

What are they doing with November? Is it going to be projected 4by3 at theaters or will they convert it to 16:9?

Thanks for any input.

Has anyone compared the use of the anamorphic adapter to the squeeze mode for creating 16/9 images on the DVX?

I'm shooting a corporate film which may also be broadcast in the UK, here everything is shot 16/9 now. Should i go DVX or DSR570?

I have read countless times that the anamorphic adapter is better quality then squeeze mode.

get a hvx200:thumbsup:

Yes, its better, and its because the squeeze is a procces made in the camera, and its done changing the pixels aspect ratio, so, its electronical, the anamorfic adapter REALY alows the LIGHT (or the image) entering to the camera in a diferent way. If you see it fast maybe you wont see the diference, but in a caouple of seconds you will notice that the squeeze is a nice "electronical cheat" but... it works, and its fine if you dont have the anamorphic (i dont have it, but im trying to get it soon.
