making back up tapes: dvx-consumer cam?

We need to back-up many of our mini dv tapes and do not have access to a deck. We're going to just record to a pv-gs300 consumer cam, does anyone know the best way to do this? (Is there an advantage to firewire versus RCA versus S-video?) Any advice appreciated.

You definitely want to use the Firewire.
With it, you'll be making an exact digital copy.

If you use RCA or S-video, you'll be going: Digital -> Analog -> Digital.

With Firewire, it stays Digital.
