Making adobe media encoder work

I can't get h.264 to look right for the life of me. It seems whatever I do, it completely ruins the video and sound.

Could anyone post their settings for this? I'm using PP2.0. I need to get this done for lovefest.

I don't compress out of the Media Encoder, Premiere doesn't do a very good job. Render uncompressed avi and use QT Pro to do it instead.

Like Jade said the media encoder is pretty worthless unless you are ok with crappy footage. AVI out to the encoder of your choosing is the way to go. If you ever work outside of QT tmpg encoder is pretty impressive for wmv's and mpegs and such.

One of the major improvements of Adobe Media Encoder CS3 is an entirely new H.264 option, which uses a high-quality codec from Main Concept. In CS3, instead of choosing QuickTime to access H.264 encoding , there's a completely separate H.264 setting in the menu, with lots of different presets.

I've had good success importing my old PPro 2.0 projects into PPro CS3, but YMMV. I'm not sure what the "official" stance on that is.

easy question but when you talk about uncompressed avi are you referring to

a) microsoft AVI with none on the video tab
b) microsoft AVI with UYVY selected on the video tab

Thanks!
