I was wondering is it possiable to take text from photoshop and bring it in to avid? well let me first explain what i am trying to do you know when you watch mtv for instance lets take the show CRIBS well in that in the bottom of the screen you see text of the person who is talking to the camera and also you see graphics i have tried many things to try and do that i can do it in combustion and vegas also after effects i am trying to see if i can achive this also in avid xpress pro also if i bring in 3d files as avi's would i need to create a alpha channel to make em small and next to the title in the bottom or do i just key out the BG and scale it? ??? ??? ???

Re: Making a title in Ps and taking it in to avid

Export a frame out of Xpress to use as a reference frame as the first layer in Photoshop. Then create the lower third with logo/graphic as needed. Delete the first layer and make sure there is an alpha channel on the file when exporting. Import with the alpha channel and you should be able to drag and drop on timeline and play in real time. No need to key or resize (unless you want it animated).

If you want something animated, do it in After Effects with the same alpha channel process.

Try bringing in the PSD file itself. It will create a sequence intead of a masterc lip with each V track being a layer from the PS.

you may have to reverse the alpha channel on the import settings of avid
