Making a PAL VHS

Just finished shooting a project, and the guest of honor / hostess asked me about providing their party on both VHS (NTSC) and VHS(PAL) format, so they can take a tape back to their friends in England. Seems like they don't want to buy a DVD player, since they will be dead in another 40-50 years anyway. I could do a PAL DVD with Vegas. Anyway, I assume I need a PAL VHS recorder to do this, and I am wondering if anyone wants to do a conversion for me? I tried local, but no has ability to do this.

I will send you a DV or VHS-NTSC tape. Contact me at PAL @stone-age dot com. Let me know how much you want to charge me. I only need one copy, AFAIK.

Did you get this worked out? A friend of mine has a VHS "World" deck that he paid like $1200 for. It will handle your conversion. PM me if you still need help and I'll track him down for you.

Thanks. I found someone reasonably close yesterday that can do it for me. One of the joys of working in Florida is everyone takes their time calling back.

I have no idea the quality but. . .

Sima's GoDVD (CT-2 & CT-200) unit will convert from one to the other. Input is auto detect and there is a switch for the output.

Samsung makes a multiformat VHS machine that will play all formats and record them IF you can source it.

I know the GoDVD device does allow you to make "back-up" copies of your copy guarded Out-of-print VHS tapes to DVD for future proofing. The main reason I bought it.

I do want to try it's format conversion abilities. I'm sure it won't be nearly as good as a place like Crawford Communications in Atlanta but to be able to share a tape or DVD (of one of your projects) with someone in a one-off situation it could be very handy.
