Making a Musicvideo

hej hej,

so a few days ago that guy came up to the agency i work in, and he brought that cd with him and said he needed a music video for that, maybe also for mtv, and my boss pointed at
me and said: hey gabriel, you are pretty good at that right, can you do this? and i was like, yeah maybe. well i never made a music video. the only thing i´ll need is a dolly and
a hvx 200. that´s what i´m going to rent somewhere. cause i really don´t think my dvx can handle that **** haha. well maybe. but quality you know.

i don´t think filming would be the problem, it´s just i never made a music video. so can anyone give me some advice how to start up with that? what to do first etc.?

first thing, if its your first one, and you're already familiar with your dvx, i would consider shooting it with that, the last thing you want to deal with is a learning curve (though the hvx is pretty similar) you could definatly save some money there, and be more prepared. Second thing, shoot a fake one, with whatever song you enjoy, so you can get a good idea for rhythm and blocking, two things you will want to be smooth on your real project.

Get the song first listen to it over and over, in the shower on the loo, in the car etc so that you klnow it backwards... talk to the band so you all agree on what they want. Don't allow alcohol onto your set!!! and sketchy groupies who'll try steal ****. make a copy of the song onto a cd with 3 beeps that lead into the song so that you can sinc it later in the edit, and the band will get used to when the song will start.
have fun...
