DVFilm Maker 2.1 for Macintosh now supports HD 60i to 24P and 50i to 25P conversion. This is for shooting 60i or 50i on the HDR-FX1 or Z1 for best resolution and editing at 24P or 25P for output to film.

There is more info at http://dvfilm.com/fx1

The best method for now (until FCP supports HDV capture) is to capture with iMovieHD, convert to 24P or 25P with Maker 2.1, and then edit the converted clips with FCP-HD.

Maker 2.1 will also post-process 60i HD movies into either 24P, or to 60i with 24P film-motion.

Re: Maker Mac for FX1/Z1 released

I tried the program but the settings are not that clear. There are numbers I am supposed to put in and I don't know what the recommended values are, or even the maximum values. Also some options are not very intuitive.

Having said that, I know the program is capable of excellent results. But I just can't figure out all the settings as easily as with MPEG Streamclip.
