"Make MultiClip" Greyed out. Multicam Editing

Hi

I did a 2 camera shoot with no time code on a pair of EX1s. I have lined up the clips and would like to work in multicam mode, but the "Make Multiclip" is greyed out.

How should I prepare my footage for multicam? I did add angle info, but that doesn't give me the "Make MultiClip" function.

Please advise. I'm a Multicam novice.

Thanks

Chad

You need to sync the clips.

Check out pages 243-250 in the FCP user manual

Did you have a slate? Do you have a master audio track to work with? Were the cameras shooting continuously?

Thanks guys. I am aware of "in-Point" multiclips. But here's my situation. I captured the EX1 clips as whole files, then the cameraman left with his camera & media. So the files have different starting points. My work-around is to line them up manually, then export new clips that start at the same point. Then Multicam works. BUT - exporting a new clip from XDCAM to XDCAM is a lossy process. And exporting PROREZ422 is 4 x larger.

So, when the files start at different points - is there a way to match in points for multicam without rendering a new file? Or is my only option (after the original media has gone bye-bye) to render out new files that start at the same point?

Thanks.
