Make it look like video?

I have an unusual problem, I work on a TV show where we plan to use an hvx200 to shoot some elements that will play back onset on lcd monitors. The shows regular film camera will then film this playback. In tests, the DP thinks the hvx footage looked too good - too much like film. It's supposed to be video surveillance.

I won't have time to experiment with settings beforehand, and I don't own the HVX200 - but I am familiar with it's menu system because of my previous ownership of the dvx100. I do need to keep it at 24 frame, because post might need to cut it into the show and they requested it be kept at 24 frame.

So, my question is - what settings will give me the most surveillance video look? Normally, I would run it through a bad tv filter, but there won't be time for this on the day. I'm guessing I'll need to turn off cine-gamma - perhaps crank the gain... anything else to make it a little crappier?

Thanks
Joe

Yeah, digital sharpening, the worst thing digital imaging ever had!

Just apply it like you're a mad Sony employee responsible for DV cameras in the sub-$200 range!

you can jam it in post too. a good image can be turned into an ugly image, the other way is much harder :)

Yea, lose cine gamma, go with b. press. Sharpness can be turned up more in post if need be. Maybe even drop the master ped to -2 or more.

id shoot in DV resolution. 60i. 4:3 aspect.

this usually looks like surveillance video.

Thanks guys. The video gets turned around for playback right away, that's why I need to do it in camera. It doesn't need to look like horrific surveillance - but it can't look like film. I'll play with the settings you guys have mentioned.
