So, I just got a FireStore for my DVX...and all I can say is....I should have bought one sooner. Anyway, I was testing some footage and used my dogs Magnum and Higgins as subjects. Not trying to win any awards, but thought you might want to take a look. Enjoy!

Take a look

i tried but it says file not found
which firestore did you get for your dvx?

It looks good. Very clean image. But at the same time, I'm not seeing the full res clip. But it does look nice. I had to quickstream dv at one point, but sold it to get a Letus FE. I couldn't see a great deal difference in quality. But maybe this is different with the Focus.

bilgami, not sure why it didn't find the file. I just tested and it worked ok. It is a mov so you might have to right click and save target as if it will not play in your browser.
I got the standard FS-4. I actually bought it from ShaneJackson via the Market Place. He had swapped the HDD for the 120G, so I can record for 9 hours straight. He included 2 batteries as well. I use them as backup as I already owned a Tekkeon 3540 that I used for my VidLED's, so I wired up a cord to run both. I used it on a wedding last weekend and it lasted about 6 hours. I just bought the 3450-10 extension so that hopefully my battery can outlive my HDD space.

Thanks UncleBen! I captured the DV tape from the wedding I shot vs. the FireStore to see if I could tell a quality difference. At full res everything looks exactly the same., but I didn't really expect there to be a difference. It's just the same data frim a different source.

Como, check it out

do they still make them cuz i searched b&h and the only firestore they had was a 12 hundred one. i know they used to sell cheaper ones.

I've never seen them that cheap. I don't know if I have ever seen any HDD recorder solution that cheap. The cost was always my reservation, but if you do any amount of shooting and editing that involves shoots over 2 -3 hours...I would highly recommend this device.

Granted, I'm new to using it....but it has saved me a literal working day in my work flow for editing weddings. That to me is worth the cost alone. I will buy at least one more of these.

i guess the ones i saw was not hd and it was probly four yrs ago. by the way i think the link dont work cuz here at work we cant download anything.

Hi Dan.
I was about to get the FS-4 when I came across a thread with a firestore problem, I looked like a jump, drop frame or something. So now I'm doing some more research before I buy. Have had any problems with your FS-4 since you got it?

It looks like a great device..I want to get one soon.

please share any insight.

Thanks
Osmany
