GH4 Magic...

An exercise to determine the best aperture setting for the revised SLR Magic CINE II lens and the SLR Anamorphot combination for daytime wide scenes while maintaining edge sharpness. There is a slight flickering of moiré in a few of the architectural details, but not in the original full resolution clips.

Shot on two cloudy occasions with a Panasonic GH4 using the Natural "all flat" setting. Captured in UHD 24p and down-converted in FCP X along with exposure adjustments all round, and slight color correction on a few of the clips.

All hand held and post stabilized.

Comments welcome.

Thanks for posting. I really appreciate your real life tests. I guess that observation on absence of moiré issues is already to prevent my mandatory inquiry if you previously had not noticed on topic : D following up our prior discussions because of the visible hassle present on the samples on Vimeo : ) well, here's my entry on the best method to the best downsample route in order to avoid it:

You know I had you in mind when I wrote that.

I only looked at the BM hardware option, but that's too rich for what I'm doing. I will check out the other link as that is the next frontier - how to compress without artifacts.

As ever, many thanks.
