I'm a sleight of hand artist as well as a DP. This was shot in response to a tutorial I wrote up in the lighting section recently, but I liked the footage so much, that I've turned it into a small side project. All one man band, so it's a bit hard. I still need to shoot some close ups, etc..

I shot with a Nikon 50mm lens. The format was DVCPRO HD 720p 24p. :cheesy:

Looks great Chris
You really have some awesome lighting skills wish i had a kit like yours. I have seen photos from your shoots that also stresses to me the importance of having flags, cutters, scrims, c stands etc to control the light. Where have you learnt your lighting skills. Also do you think the +15 pedestal is excessive? I would really like to see a higher quality version of this does it look noisy on your reference monitor? By the way did you buy a HVX?

The pedestal setting all depends on what you're shooting. Some situations are not best handled with it set that high. This situation however, it was just fine. I'll upload some high res stuff soon. As for where I learned, well, I taught myself basically everything I know. I was a book nerd, still am, but most important, I just practice. I do not own an HVX, I just barrow one when I need it. It doesn't look any more noisey than the raw footage does actually. An important issue though is the adapter, that does add some noise to the image. One of these days, I'll shoot the same thing without it. I'm sure it will be even cleaner looking.
