Magic Lantern Workflow Hardwear

Hey everyone. I recently bought a 5D III and I would eventually like to run ML so I can start shooting raw. Raw clearly is a lot to handle on the post side and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to invest in in order to have an efficient and productive post experience. I would also like the to have it in a fairly portable package if that is at all possible. I'm pretty much starting from scratch so I am really looking for a whole roadmap here. Any other advice would be greatly welcomed. Thanks!

The new Mac Pro is pretty portable.... ;) Don't skimp out on the processor at least. You'll be rendering a lot of frames wether you like it or not.
I think Resolve is a little faster at rendering out ProRes files than say AE, but for some reason I get weird frames when importing the DNGs into Resolve, so I go by AE.

When rendering out individual clips with a 27" iMac 2014 (not the 4k one) with 24gb of ram and 3.2 GHz processor it uses around 8-9gb of ram in 3 cores while I keep the last core for other processes.
This is with the files placed on a raided 6TB WD My Book and spitting out the renders to the same drive.

A 30sec clip took AE approx 7-10 minutes to render out to prores 422. I usually just spent time lining up the clips and then set them to render over night.

If anyone has some tips, I'd love to hear them as it's the render times that are killing me with ML raw.

I have been using the KomputerBay 256GB 1066x CF card, which gives me around 48 minutes of 1080P footage. I've been very pleased with the performance. It costs $280 now, which is $120 less than I paid for it a few months ago.

For backing up footage on location, I use a Nexto-DI.

As far as computer performance goes, my late 2012 iMac (3.4 GHz Intel Core i7 / 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB) continues to serve me well. I typically do not attempt to playback the MLV files; I just prep them in Resolve (BMDFilm, color balance, exposure tweaks) and export to ProResHQ and edit as normal. I've also recently added an OWC ThunderBay (Raid 5 Edition) for 15TB of fast, redundant hard drive space.
