Magic Bullet?

I am thinking about investing in purchasing the new Magic Bullet Editors 2, for Avid. Is it worth it? I've seen some nice CC that is only possible with Magic Bullet.

It's a nice set of plug-ins. The only complaint I have with Magic Bullet is that everyone is using it to the point of saturation. You can almost look at something and say if it was Magic Bullet or not.

If you're prepared to wait for extremely long render times, then there are several worse ways to spend $200.

we all can notice MB when used becuase its a tool we work with. The average joe sixpack viewer out there will not throw up his hands and say "aw crap more Magic Bullet footage"

No, but Joe might say "Hey, that looks like [insert name of spot here] that I saw two hours ago."

perhaps. MBs looks are good starting points, and from there one should tweak and adjust them to get a unique look. Going straight to Epic or Neo without any tweaking will indeed look very common.

Its main weakness does seem to be the glow/halo which they apply too heavily. Every MB setting I apply, the first thing I do is remove their diffusions.

Its the same phenomena than photoshop. You can notice if the picture is "photoshoped" (example : someone use all effects on a single layer)". If you use magic bullet wisely, you can produce miracle :)

Whenever you add an effect to the timeline you can adjust all the settings in the "effect editor" window. Should be on screen when in the "effects editing" toolset. Depending on your desktop setup - Mine is right beside the composer. As you adjust settings you can see result in composer.
