Magic Bullet messing up edit

heres the deal.

For about 16secs i have 9 layers of video. I MB each one and after 16secs it goes down to 2 layers. When the render completed, MB messed up everything. Some parts of the video are missing, flickering and the edit itself is repeating, meaning that its only playing a few clips for the entire thing.

anyone have a solution?

Are you using an external monitor? If so, sounds like it could be something completely different than you are thinking - try refreshing the video output (option+f12) and sending all frames to video out (Command+f12) again.

If that is not the case, I really have no idea. Could be a bug specific to your operating system / fcp version / codec used to edit.

no external monitor. I just re-rendered, which is taking half the day to do, and im still getting (not as many as im doing it in segments now) problems. bleh. this is taking waaaay to long to keep fixing this.

16 sec and 9 layers of video. curious to why do you have that many layers over 16sec. what kind of project is that, what kind of files are they.

what the timeline sequence settings.

why do you have 9 layers of video over 16 sec.

did i mention that it's not reasonable to have 9 layers of video on top of each other.

its a personal project i shot in LA. There are 9 layers because its laid out in a 3x3 grid. It was shot on the 5d at 24p, converted to Proress 422. Sequence settings at 1920x1080, 24p, progressive, etc. Its only effecting a few clip now as im re-rendering again. I had a similar problem with footage from the HMC.

when you finish the project, how are you exporting the footage?

do you render on the timeline, check on the viewer and see the error, or on he exported footage?

can you delete the rendered files on the timeline and make new ones?

I've experienced the same problem. It comes from the multiple layers. The fix is to render in chunks. Do a 3 layered render - then bring that render in, add 3 more layers and repeat the process until done.

I exported through compressor with vimeo suggested settings.

good idea. i figured it had something to do with all the layers.
