Magic Bullet Looks in Avid 6

I would think pretty good. I've had some plug-ins in my PC MC from the 3.0 days... they seem to work fine in 5.5.3

So... What are the chances we'll see compatibility?

Unfortunately, not good. Anything before MC6 was 32-bit. All plugins now have to be 64-bit compatibility.

The good news is that Red Giant is making a 64-bit version of Magic Bullet Looks. I know because I asked them. They told me at the end of the year.

I upgraded to MC6 today. Had some licensing issue which cost me a few hours of my life but now all is good. :)

I upgraded too. Unfortunately the reason I upgraded - for AMA support of AVCHD - appears totally worthless. I can't playback or transcode AMA AVCHD footage. And I thought my PC was pretty fast - it handles everything else I throw at it.

I heard people are having with the AVCHD - AMA but I am sure they will fix that in the next patch. In general, I find AMA too computer intensive. I use AVCHD also and just convert it to DNxHD which is a very good codec and makes MC fly. Yes, it sucks to have to convert video files to a new codec but once it is done, you are good to go!

I upgraded in avid mc6 , but no avchd support !
Same on you Avid.... Fcpx and premiere cs5 plays them easilly .

same here. AMA linking is much too processor heavy. Not the end of the world though - DNxHD is a great codec so I think it's worth the transcode. Just spoke with Red Giant and that's more annoying - Magic Bullet v1 is not compatible with MC6, not will it ever be - they tell me that if and when they get Looks working with MC6 I'll need to buy the upgrade to Magic Bullet v 2 in any case. nice way to force us to buy more from them! I've also found an issue with re-linking old projects. Had some offline media and tried to batch import, but for some reason MC6 brings in 3 frames less than the original file on batch import, so it's failing to do it and giving a 'clip too short' error. hopefully they'll fix this soon, as I've just had to manually re-sync an edit. Apart from those issues, I'm really liking the new interface, Avid gets better and better I think - notwithstanding these teething problems!

Yeah, definitely a few bugs but unfortunately that is normal for a new release. The "batch import" issue is the most annoying for me but I know they are working on a patch that will fix a lot. Hopefully that will come sooner than later. Otherwise, I love MC6 too.
