Ok, just got my Magic box in-
Attempted dumping my one 4GB card that was almost full and it seemed that it was going along just fine. (the copy LED was going for about 4 minutes) Then it beeped 5 times and the error led flashes.
I assumed that the transfer finished because the manual said it would beep that many times when transfer is complete.
So then I check out the contents of the Magic Box and it only copied about 700MB worth of the card(3 out of 8 .mxf files) :furious3: , but it did copy all appropriate folders as it should. So i gave this cheap looking drive the benefit of a doubt and cleared out my card, shot some fresh material, all in the same format this time. And blammo same problem :nads: ... Whats the deal?
Im seriously considering returning this hunk of junk. :badputer:

Yes, Im speaking of the USB2-OTG drive which I learned about on this forum- If you do a search you'll find googles of threads about it. But just in case someone doesn't, here is the link to actual place I bought it from: http://www.acortech.com/.sc/ms/dd/ee/3236/ME-600 Black OTG 2.5" USB 2.0 External Enclosure
I do not have a budget for a p2 store. (and actually i think its a dumb idea even if it is a Panny product) -swapping out p2 cards is for the birds <easy for a guy with only 1x4GB card to say.lol>
I'm going to ask for my money back as soon as this blasted holiday weekend is over and continue my search for self powered(not bus-powered) portable Firewire case to hold the Seagate 7200rpm 2.5' 80GB drive bought for this magic box. (if anyone knows of any PLEASE post it here)

I wouldnt trust this and always though usb on the go devices were a very bad idea. Firewire drives are the way to go as the camera controls the transfer and can verify the copy. I use an old Quickstream as a self powered portable offload device.

Oh and Jarred,
I whole heartedly agree with you on choosing firewire over USB2 for dumping your P2 footage to in the field.
These things definetly are poorly made.
...and I'm still on the lookout for the perfect portable metal housing with a VERY long lasting (long enought to keep up with my HVX battery) bus-power rechargable lithium-ion battery (unless there is some better battery technology Im not aware of)
