FS7: Magenta to be fixed in new firmware

[Lenilenapi]

Just announced by Juan Martinez on the Sony FS7 Community:

"Thanks to all of you for your patience, and constructive feedback. I'm happy to announce the next firmware build will correct the magenta shift in Custom Mode. As expected, this build also includes new codec operating points: 4K XAVC-I (4096 x 2160 up to 60fps) and HD Apple ProRes HQ+Normal at 23.98, 25 and 29.97fps as previously announced.
Juan"

So who thought they didn't care? .....Gotta be impressed.

Good news. Wonder if they fixed anything else?

Magenta cast needs to be fixed in Cine EI too.

Let's see Sony match the color in both modes, that is what's needed.

As soon as this and RAW recording magenta issue are solved... well, they are the biggest issues for the moment, but Monitoring LUT's are still a bit buggy right ?

I would love to see S-Log2/S-Gamut3.Cine in Cine EI mode but it's probably not happening.

Cheers.

I'm impressed. 4096 in XAVC-I and you don't need to letter box to look wider screen. Plus ProRes. at this price point?! I'm loving it.

And I don't think this is the last firmware upgrade.

Anyone know when this FW update is shipping?

[Ben Scott]

Pro Res is for use with the Extension Back. It's not a free update

ProRes requires the $2000 XDCA-FS7 extension unit. I'm a little bummed they aren't doing ProRes HQ up to 60fps, but I'll take it!

Hi guys,

Some news here.

Apparently, the firmware update is not coming before March. Yes, March.

One FS7 user talked to a Sony representative at the AFC Micro Salon in Paris.

He wasn't told "when in March" either so it can mean "closer to April" but it's the worse case scenario of course.

A bit of a bummer. Sorry to be the messenger of such a news.

[Sttratos]

Great news. Yes, hope they will fix it in Cine EI too.
