I read somewhere that some of the Gh1's are made in China and some (mostly the new ones) are made in Japan and only the ones made in Japan can be upgraded with the Tester13 hack. Can anyone verify this?. I just called B&H to order one but changed my mind after the rep told me that according to the computer, theirs are made in China.

What part is a lie?, the part about where they are made in, or that no all of them are upgradable to the Tester13 hack. Thank you for your opinion.

Mine was manufactured in the good old people's republic of China, where everything in the world is made today, and the hack went smoothly and the camera works even better. Why would made in China or Japan make a difference? Why? It is the same components, the same software, the same everything. I just wonder how all these theories and stories come to fruition. It is just amazing.
This is the wonderful thing we call the internet. Someone has to say but one thing and it spreads.
I could say somewhere, the gh13 hack is all really smoke and mirrors by someone from panasonic to get more people to buy the GH1. A totally rediculous statement. But I bet if I tossed that somewhere it would find its way back here and someone would ask the question.
On the otherhand when you sift through all the dirt on the internet. you do find nuggets of gold. THings like, oh I dont know - DVXuser and the GH13 hack for example.
Thanks for not getting this thread bogged down politically as well guys, much appreciated (no sacasm in this statement).

well because when i grip my gh13 from the bottom left hand corner it drops pictures...that's how you know it's made in China.

History is history -- part of life, a way beyond than just mere politics. Who cannot understand this, I'd suggest some education on the subject matter. It does fit well everyone any time ;-) No sarcasm in this statement
