great job...what settings did you use for the black and white? Looks like you cranked up the master ped...

Hi Chris,

Wow that was a swift reply, plain old CineV setting on the camera, but a very heavy dose of the threshold filter in Final cut to massecre the gamma to a virtual black and white with nothing in between type of image.

Thanks for the comments

Hi Brad,

LOL, Don't worry it's not be cruel to monkeys week!!! he is a family hierloom that harks back to the victorian era, when it was considered the done thing to shoot first and debate conservation and and Darwin over "gin slings" later.

So it's nice to get him in the picture , my small effort to make sure his demise was not completly wasted.

I would have much preferred that he lived out his life happily in the tree canopy somewhere.

Thanks for the comments, it was only meant to be a sound check, but sometimes you just have to grab the moment. Gotta admit though, operating the camera, pushing the dolly and pulling focus is... errrr... Interesting!!!!!

Thanks guys

Nice looking footage. I, personally, thought the strongest moment was the track in with the kid as the particles were coming at us. What program was used there? AE?

Great job.

it was probably just FCP, nothing in the video that couldnt be done in FCP, it looked great, simple , beautiful. the images added to the music.

Hi Nametaken,

Thanks for the comments, I think you have a good eye, the slow pan on the boy is my favourite shot to. The particles are just a little bit of a Snow Flurry preset straight out of Apples Motion programme.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for taking the time to comment and kind words. You hit the nail on the head, i'm a great believer in the "KISS" aproach (Keep It Simple, Stupid) that's definetly me!

In hindsight I would lose the shot of the plasma ball, too clever, too cheesy etc.

It's all put together in FCP, but is very straightforward barring the snow effect you could probably do it in iMovie.

Too often I think we feel compelled to just put too much into a shot or sequence or video. I think this one works because everything is paired down to basics. One simple look and very few elements.

Personally I have seen so much quick cut ,shakyCam, bling bling, in your face footage that I am feeling more and more compelled to make a stand and crack out nothing but simple, slow panning, well composed and nicely lit pieces that are totally untrendy but beautiful in their own way.

Damn, I just need the talent to do all that now, DOH.....

Thanks again for the comments
