Macro stays on when fully zoomed out....

Macro is staying on when fully zoomed out and up to the 40 focus mark. Zoom into the 44 mark and Macro turns off. Auto focus is set and lens is not in manual.

Let this be an easy one......

No, as it appears to be focusing. Rather the macro remains in the display when the focus is between the AF00 and AF40 mark. This is also the case when lens is in manual mode: turn the focus ring above the MF40 mark, macro is removed form the display. Drop below MF40 and macro returns.

Hope that helps define it better

I just got off the phone with Panasonic tech. He said that the macro engages and will show in the display when the focus mark gets below AF38 or MF38. Hmmm. ..., I said, that means 100's of hours of use and I have never noticed that in my display?? Wow, okay, maybe, I guess, thats possible.

Can someone else who owns a DVX100b or one of the gurus on this site confirm this behavior.

Sure appreciate it.

yes, that is normal behaviour for the camera, that's why I didn't understand your question. Basically at those MF or AF numbers the camera is focusing very close, therefore it is in it's macro focus. you never need to push a button to enter into the macro range of the camera.

Macro is on at those focus points, but only when the zoom is also zoomed in sufficiently, I believe. At full wide zoom, macro should never be engaged. At full tele zoom, macro will be engaged for close focus. Check it out.
