machine for using hvx200 footage

+ I have only 1 ag-hvx200 cam money right now (:

+ I have P4 3.0 HT with 1gb ddr ram.

- I do not have graphics card other than a standard 64mb graphics card that is enough to run winXP (:

- I do not have any editing card.


According to these, buying an ag-hvx200 will not be useful. Right? If you were me, what would you do?

Ehem... What should i do? Should i need a dual xeon powermac for easiliy editing maximum quality footage from ag-hvx200? I'd appreciate any idea :/

don't forget the monitor. If you want to edit 1080p footage you need a good quality monitor.
 
And at ~1GB/minute, you need lots of disk space for editing and archiving. Obviously archiving shouldn't be done using a single large hard drive in your PC.

While it does not have the power of my workstation, I occasionally use my laptop while on the road for editing with Edius Broadcast v.4

It has essentially the same specs as yours . . . 3.0 gig P4, 64mb built in graphics card. I also have Avid Xpress Pro and Premiere Pro 2.0 installed on this machine. All of them work properly.

Would you want more power, memory, higher line graphics card? Sure.

Can you edit on a laptop with those specs? Absolutely.

As long as you already have the laptop, why not download & install your choice of (trial) editors and see for yourself?

Firstşy, thank you all.. I want to be able to edit pure HD footage without jarring affect. i mean, i want to be able to edit the HD footage and not just cut and drag and drop the footage, but also play with it add effects, masking, etc etc etc... I have to buy a special hardware? ( sure... ) What do you use for that?

For ex: i have packard bell easynote notbook (1gb ram, 1.86ghz pentium M). i think i can not use this one for editing HD. So can i add and what should i add to my PC. or should i have to totally toss it ?
