FAQ Macbook Pro Retina 13" for light editing of 4k FS7 footage on FCPX?

I use a late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro 15"--quadcore i7 2.6 GHz, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, with a nVidia GeForce 750M 2GB graphics card. I travel a lot for work (which is not primarily video-related) and want to switch to a Macbook Pro 13" for portability. If I get the most highly spec'd model available now (i7 dualcore 3.1 GHz processor, no graphics card, else the same), will I be better or worse off?

I'm going to use this to edit 4k XAVC-I slog3 footage from the FS7 with minimal grading on FCPX. 24p on HD timeline. On the road I usually don't do more than throwing a FilmConvert effect, and very occasionally reframing and stabilization. Does the lack of a graphics card matter in this case?

I suspect this has been discussed below so please feel free to point me to resources. Thank you.

Edit: a 2GB graphics memory, not 512!

512GB Graphics where did you buy that? I want one too :-)

my 15" 2015 MBP with VIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB is struggling with 4K XAVC-I.
The 13" has only Intel Iris Graphics 6100 which is not a good solution for editing but your
512GB nVidia isn't either. Best would be a maxed out graphic board which is available only
for a 15" book. Nevertheless I'd recommend to go for proxies. That's what I do when I am travelling

I went from a TOTL i7 13" to a fully specced 15" and the larger laptop is twice as fast when editing Sony XAVC-L. I wouldn't recommend the 13" for 4K editing. It's too bad though, the 13" is so portable.

Thanks guys. Sounds like the current MPB 13 would be a frustrating downgrade. Looking forward to the next generation machines... but the rumor of their having no ports but USB-C's makes me shudder. At least give me an SD card slot, please.
