MacBook Core2duo

I asked the same question a few days ago. Looks like the earlist will be first or second week of November. eagerly awaiting first time mac buyer.

isn't NAB not next year?

can we expect some news from Panasonic e.g. 16 Gb card, update of the P2 store so it will match better with 16 Gb. Maybe even an small update of the HVX to remove it's weaknesses (better LCD/viewfinder, flip imageon the LCD by pushing a knob).

I have an additional questions. Is it possible to connect an external blue ray writer to a MBpro? Which connector on the MBpro do you have to use? Any additional software needed or is it already incorporated in FC studio to burn blue-ray disks?

Does anyone know when the macbook pro with core2duo will be on the market?

From what I've read, you are looking at marginally faster performance. Something like 5%.

the 2.16 MBP are plenty fast for DVCProHD.

Is there some reason you are waiting?

Theoretically, any burner with either USB2 or FW should be fine with a Mac. The question is whether the OS supports burning to the blu ray.

It would be a pitty to buy a MBpro now if in a few weeks time a faster version will be available for a comparable price. Not only for speed reasons but also for
value reasons. I also think that speed can never hurt for edditting purposes.

Running today's software, there's not that much of a difference. But keep in mind the Core 2 Duo is a 64-bit processor, and the Core Duo is a 32-bit processor. It's like the difference from a G4 to a G5. Run a 64-bit OS on it and it should be dramatically faster than the Core Duo.

Mmm, except a G4 is also a 64-bit chip, just one with an earlier implementation of the PowerPC architecture. It's actually rather odd to see apple go to a 32-bit chip, then back to 64-bit, but I suppose that's what was available at the time of the transition.

The MBp core2Duo 17 " only has a resolution of 1680*1050 according to the spec at the Apple site. In other words you can not view fill HD 1920*1080. Isn't that a little strange for such an expensive notebook?? More important does this mean that if you connect a cinema display 23" or 30" you still can not view 1920*1080???

Is the ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 grafische processor met 256 MB SDRAM powerfull enough for video edditting with FCS?

What about the advantages of 17" compared to a 15.4" screen?

Now that they both come with the same ports, the different isnt too great. The reason for getting a 17" IMO was the firewire 800 port.

But the graphics card is more than enough for editing with FCS. Ive got a MBP 15" 2.0ghz Core Duo and have yet to have to render for full rez realtime external monitor or just the laptop alone any video even with color correction and flop filters on the video in the time line. DOesnt even need to render the transistions between those files, or the keyframing of the video's color correction. ONly when i have 3 or 4 filters on the video does it need to render and it does it very speedily.

ANd your external monitor support isnt limited to the resolution of the laptop itself.

but in either case one is not able to see the full resolution the HVX is capable off. Whereas if I buy a cheaper Sony notbook from the AR series you have 1920*1080 and a blue-ray disk as well !!!!! But than you have to go to edius or something else. Why did apple give the 17" MBp not a full HD screen ???
