So I'm thinking about buying a Mac Pro tower but I'm pensive because of the buzz surrounding a "possible" upgrade for the Mac Pro. Does anyone suspect that apple will upgrade, or should I just buy now?

Longshanks,
If you need it to keep workflow going, then get it now, My Early 08 Macpro 3ghz 8 core is a rock and is extremely fast, (comapred to my old Quad 2.5 PPC G5) I can't see that any improvements being dramatic in these updates, there will be the usual Sales Hype but the history of new releases has been strewn with some big issues taking months to sort out, I buy my Mac's based on their stability not their purported abilities.
Checkout the apple forums and read some of these your self.

Do your homework well and you can't go wrong, or look about to what some users in your region are using.
Runout Macpro's will be very well priced so definatly consider one of those, they have been proven.

cheers

Tom4: The newest intel processor is much faster than whats used in the current MP's (they're a completely new chip design with no FSB)... There are going to be big gains for video encoding and multi-threaded apps (like compressor and AE). I'll be putting my early 08 2.8ghz MP up for sale ASAP so I can pick up an early 09 model.

Apple is always closed mouthed about hardware and software upgrades.

Given MWSF is less than a month away, if you have no need for a new tower, why not wait.
