Im about to buy a new Mac Pro and im trying to avoid paying $900 bucks for the Mac monitor. Any cheaper suggestions?

Thanks

there is no reason you have to get an apple LCD... any LCD will do for video editing.

I like Dell's LCDs.

I got a Dell 2408 because of the price and the plethora of ports it has. A computer monitor hooked up to your GFX card won't give you an accurate representation of your video so there's no need to buy a calibration probe.

Yeah cheap monitors are fine for editing but almost useless for broadcast-accurate color grading- if you want that it's quite a bit more costly.

LOL. this comes up over and again. Proves that Forum KM really needs work in general.
Dell 2408WFP REV 2.0 or later + Matrox MX02 and you are all set.

Until you've used a cheap monitor, you don't appreciate the quality of what Apple sells. I've heard good things about Dell, but I've tried some Samsungs and Viewsonics and it wasn't pleasant

Yeah I would maybe go Dell if I didn't already own an ACD but beyond that it's short-changing your poor eyes...
