I’m facing a weird problem in my home mac pro(desktop). It requires at least 4 hard reboot for a successful boot.

This is the pattern I’m seeing.

boot #1. beeps, lights on, nothing on the screen.
boot #2. beeps, lights on, gray screen with apple logo, gear keeps running
boot #3. beeps, lights on, login screen, some pixel corruption – freeze
boot #4. beeps, lights on, login screen, enter password – freeze
boot #5. beeps, lights on, login screen, enter password – successful login.

I see this pattern all the time booting from scratch.

any help would be appreciated, it’s a real pain to boot the system in this manner.

Try booting up from your System DVD, run disk utility to see if there is any system software corruption. If so, repair.

If that doesn't help, could be a hardware issue.

Which Mac with what operating system?

How much RAM?
