Mac LCD monitors

I was or possibly still am interested in upgrading to a new iMac. I have been researching this and am finding that there seems to be a problem with the monitors - dark on one side lighter on the other. Bummer. So-I was thinking of my next move - going with a Mac pro and getting a third party monitor. Does anyone have any suggestions in regards to a third party monitor 20 to 22 inch to go with a Mac pro?

Thanks,

Is it that you are referring to the gamma differences between PC and Mac?

Because that won't change with what monitor you get for a Mac, as I understand it.

Thanks for the replies.

I now have a 20 inch 2GHz imac (non intel). I love it. But I am getting pretty excited about the Panasonic HMC150. Intel only - so I have been checking out imacs in forums and have encountered a large amount of people who have imacs that have a serious left - right screen problem of dark on one side, light on the other. Many have been returned to Apple for replacement and still have the same problem. Many Apple techs will admit it, others tow the Apple line. So, I am a little skittish about the whole deal. No matter what I purchase I will use my Pantone color spyder for screen calibration.

I have heard from a number of people that Dell Ultra Sharp is very good in 20 or 22 inch. My general idea is to possibly skip imac and go Mac Pro with a Dell display.

Anyway, those are my thoughts for the moment.
