mac book pro and p2

My mac pro reads my HVX200a p2 cards perfectly. When I do the same thing on my mac book pro the computer doesnt read them. I dont have fcp on the mac book pro I am using it to take the footage from the p2 and put it onto a 1tb hard drive on location.

You need to install FCS in order to read P2 volumes and import them.

You don't need FCS installed in order to just copy the footage over to the external hard drive though. You'd need it installed if you wanted to view the footage, but if you're just using it as a copy station you wouldn't need FCS.

You do, however, need to have the P2 drivers installed.

Can you be a little more clear what you mean. You mean the P2 card doesn't appear on your desktop or the files when copied over cannot be opened in FCP?

yes the p2 card doesnt appear on the desktop as it usually does with my mac pro. I am using fw400 is it worth using usb2?

now my mac pro isn't reading my camera. I did notice that recently my 1st p2 slot on the camera has a yellow light while the second has a green.
