m42 and m39 to micro 4/3 adapters advice (where to purchase)

Yesterday, I was rummaging my way through the basement and happened upon some old m42 and m39 lenses left to me by and uncle (2 m42 primes, 3 m39 primes and 1 m39 zoom). The glass seems pretty good albeit in need of a cleaning and some basic repair and I was thinking they'd make great additions to my AF-100 and GH-2. As such, I began looking around for adapters. I found one from B&H for the m42. But upon further searching, I found a much cheaper versions at the olympus 43 forum (m39, m42).

So, a couple questions: Would you purchase the single adapter from B&H, both from the forum or one from each? Would you consider the quality of the equipment comparable? Has anyone purchased from the olympus 43 club before and was your experience a positive one? Does the Russian-ness of the olympus 43 clubs' adapters affect its applicability on US equipment at all?

Thanks in advance for your help!

In my opinion you do not need to spend that amount of money for the Novoflex adapter. If your Soviet m42 primes need to have the aperture pin depressed to allow for adjusting aperture, then that form factor will work (notice the rim running on the inside of the adapter at the lens end). Be aware that not all M42 adapters have that rim. I know I'm strating to sound like a broken record, but the adapter from Ciecio7 is stellar and 1/3 the price of the Novoflex. I can't find any current listings for his adapter, but if you email him he will let you know when he has more.

As to your other questions, can't help you there.

Best of luck with your lenses. Some of them are in fact quite stellar.

Sent a message to Ciecio7 on ebay to see if he/she can cook something up. Thanks for the help!

An additional question, will the form factor you were mentioning still work with both soviet and non-soviet lenses or should I be careful that there are indeed distinct adapters for each nation of origin?

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that question. My feeling is that the adapter will work with other lenses - I don't think it's an issue of nationality, but rather one of function. If you have anything specific in mind, ask Ciecio and he will be able to tell you. In fact ask him anyway, he's very knowledgeable.

Don't know if it helps. I had some minolta lens from 1977.

On someone's advice I got a rainbow imaging adapter on ebay for $29.
It works perfect and is built like a tank.

I don't know if they have one for those lens.

This has nothing to do with Rainbow Imaging as a seller. He is very good. But his M42 adapter did not work with my Helios and MIR lenses. It did not have the necessary rim.

He was very gracious about refunding me my money. So if you want, try it. You'll just have to pay return postage if it doesn't work.

Thanks to both of you for your help. I'll be looking into rainbow imaging as well. For such an extreme cut in cost (from 150 at B&H to 20 at rainbow imaging) it seems well worth the risk - more so than my badly translated russian option. As of yet no answer back from Ciecio7.

As a note: I will be sending along pictures of the lenses to whichever sellers return contact to ensure proper compatibility. If there's any interest, I'll post them here just because they're fairly old and maybe someone knows something interesting about their capabilities.
