M2 - Nikon - Hvx - Rocket Men

I recently DPed 10 pages of script to be projected during a play. We shot all of it in one day at multiple locations. Our budget was ultra ultra low and our time constraints where very short. We shot the Canyon scene in around 20 minutes. It was all edited in a day, as busy schedules and a short deadline only allotted for that amount of time. There are many things I would do differently, but it was a great learning experience.

Thought I would share and hopefully gain some new insight:

Sorry, I'm pulling the vids to make room for other things. Thanks for comments. Can still see images under the Teaking the Redrock M2 post.

I had the d/l drop out on a few downloads and was unable to resume. Eventually d/l all files.

First shot of CANYON, little soft edge/falloff. Same lens used for close ups? What was your lens selection and f-stop range used, in general?

OFFICE, slightly soft focus a few shots, perhaps the darker set makes for a little more noise?

Above, not criticism, just a few observations. I like all the other footage/shots. You achieved a very impressive look, imo.

Shooting all that in one day, editing/finishing within another, that's great and should look good projected. Have you seen the projection, the footage look sharp? Funny dialog and good performances. The Jet Pack footage, nice collection of stock, I must have one... :)

Wonderful job. I like the story line. The story gave me an oceans eleven feel. The dude talking about the jet-pack had me rolling on the ground with laughter. The shots were well planed out. I read that you used the M2 + the Nikon lens. The scenes look great with a film style feel to it. I have a few questions for you if you don't mind. I'm a new HVX200 user asking people with really good looking post how they did it. You're one of them!

Questions
1. Since you have hands on with the M2-Nikon, what are the pros & cons you had using the add-on lens? How is the setup on it? Did you catch your self buying more add-on parts for it? Would you recommend people reading this post to buy or rent the M2-Nikon? Would you use the M2-Nikon for all your shots?

2. In the scene called office, in the very beginning you had a slow moving very steady shot from the hallway when the man was telling the very sexy lady his plans on how he can get into the house. What did you use for that steady shot?

3. In all of your takes, the audio was nice. What kind of mic's and audio equipment did you use?

4. In your work flow, did you use P2 or Hard Drive? and why?

5. I ask everyone this question, What kind of tripod did you use, and would you recommend it to your readers?

Your work is so good I had to kill you with question. Sorry about that. I look forward to seeing more of this story.

ok so wheres the cum shot, we want to see your actors fly,

one question, they want to get over the canyon, to swipe the one machine with would get them over the canyon, seems a paradox?

No disrespect Michael Hurdle but that reminded me of the scene in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle when Kenneth Park (asian guy) asked Harold about being a Jr. investment banker @ Bruster Kegan. lol

Hey Michael,

Just posted a new thread called Tweaking the M2, I hope that will answer all your questions... sorry it has taken me so long to get back.

It's a con, they want something else. You would need to see the entire movie, but clues exist in the clips you viewed.
