Hi All,
I've just posted a major update to LUTCalc - v3.0. Quite a lot of work under the hood, and a few more visible developments.
Probably most useful is the 'Gamut Limiter'. When you go from a wide gamut like S-Gamut3.cine to Rec709 the leftover colours can lead to nasty clipping. Gamut Limiter desaturates out of bounds colours back within range. A while ago a couple of people mentioned difficulties with nasty chroma clipping on bright, saturated colours with vanilla Rec709 (e.g. high-vis jackets), and Gamut Limiter is the result. I added a Gamut Limiter tool a couple of updates back, but the tool in v3.0 is a completely new approach with new code; simpler and much more effective. The default setting should be right for most people, but for the more techie there are a bunch of options to fiddle with ;-)
The online version is up on the LUTCalc website, with more details on the changes here. macOS App and Chrome App users should get updates shortly.
As ever, the source code is up on GitHub.
If anyone finds it useful, feedback, suggestions and heads up on any problems are always useful.
Thanks,
Ben
