Hi!
So Im making my own LUTs for the original Slog and Sgamut found on the F3 and F35. I mostly work with Sony cameras (A7S, F3, FS7, F5 and F55) and want a quick and client-friendly way of getting:
1) a reasonably close match between the cameras and
2) an accurate transfer from recording gamut into a easy grading space like rec709
I have had success with going from Slog Sgamut into LC709A gamma and gamut but looking for something without a "look" and the transfer in LUTcalc from Sgamut to Rec709 seems to give me alot of clipped colours and such. I made a custom version with less saturation in highs and lows etc. but for example cyan colours still seems to go wild. I think it might be something with how the gamut (and saturation) corresponds to the gamma curve, but would love some input on this!
So basicly I want to build a few LUTs that can fit the bill when grading is gonna be done but not wanting to corner into a look or force the colorist to grade wild Sgamut. Maybe I could just transfer Sgamut into Sgamut3.cine?
Thanks,
Ed
